Rotary Electroforming Unit

At the conclusion of preparing a photo-resist master, the heliographer is left with a laser etched, developed plate of glass that is normally coated with a fragile positive reading resist. Encoded in its surface are the many fine grooves that produce the image. This coated glass cannot be used to emboss copies of the hologram into plastic. Therefore, the electroforming process is used to perform the conversion from photo-resist master to metal master for the subsequent production of copies in plastic or hot-stamping foil. Zinc Plating Barrel

The bulk plating of the small articles i.e.; barrel plating has been long considered the most economical method because of low labour cost and the elimination of racking and rack maintenance.

This is fully submerged motorized barrel, as illustrated, is designed for the rapid and efficient handling of small articles such as screws, rivets, nuts etc.

The unit is suitable for the most deposits with the exception of chrome. The unit is equipped with all plastics perforated battle, bearings, gear ring and the side panels which remain in the solution.

The barrel can be raised out of the tank by the hand operated pinion sector mechanism and emptied with minimum effort the plated parts being discharged through funnel into a bucket. This causes the rapidity of loading and unloading. The barrel is counterbalanced to minimize the lifting effort. Cathode contacts are of the flexible type, designed to give effective current distribution and to be easily removable for stripping. The contact cable passes through stationery bushes to avoid abrasion of the cable against rotation of barrel.

The rotary, stationery bearings and the plastic gear ring is replaceable. Barrels are available in three capacities.
Electroforming Compact Unit

ELECTROFORMING UNIT FOR HARD SHIM
Electroforming is a process of converting holographic image (relief) from photo-resist or plastic to metal (nickel). 
The full set includes two type of processes needed two independent sets of equipment with different solution composition.  They are called "unstressed" and "stressed" electroform modules. 

1. Production of Master shims - transforms image from Photo-resist glass or recombined plastic to nickel copies.
2. Production of Work shims - Work shims are copies from Master shims.

ELECTROFORMING
The master is mounted into a jig (frame) and sprayed with silver paint to achieve good electrical conductivity. The jig is lowered into a tank along with a supply of nickel. An electric current is introduced, and the master is electroplated with nickel. The jig is removed from the tank and washed with deonized water. The thin, nickel coating, which is called the metal master shim, is peeled off the master plate. It contains a negative image of the master hologram (the negative is actually a mirror image of the original hologram).

Using similar processes, several generations of shims are created. Those made from the metal master shim are known as "grandmothers," and they contain positive images of the original hologram. At this stage, numerous copies of the original image are "combined" (duplicated in rows) on one shim that can be used to print multiple copies with a single impression. Successive generations of shims are known as "mothers," "daughters," and "stamper shims." Because these generations alternate between negative and positive images of the original, the stamper shims are negative images that will be used during actual production runs to print the final product holograms
